About me

Léonie avatar

My name is Léonie Pruniaux, I am 19 years old, and I am currently a student in the BUT MMI program (Multimedia and Internet Professions). I have always loved computers, the world of the Internet, and everything related to digital technology. I enjoy learning how to create, testing new things, and understanding how the tools we use every day work. What I enjoy most is sharing what I do: whether it’s a project, an idea, or a creation, I like showcasing my work and exchanging with others. Multimedia appeals to me because it brings together technology, creativity, and communication—three aspects that motivate me to continue in this field of study.

Explanation of the topic

My topic consists of building a mobile website around the Matilda Effect, a phenomenon that highlights how some women scientists have seen their discoveries attributed to men. On this website, you can discover the journey of Nettie Stevens, the biologist who identified the X and Y sex chromosomes, whose work was long overlooked. The site also presents several complementary articles: women scientists in literature, a popularized explanation of Stevens’ discovery, a film illustrating the invisibility of women, and a book borrowed from the university library related to the topic. A timeline, a film gallery, and a glossary further enrich the navigation. Finally, a contact page allows visitors to get in touch with the site. Some textual elements were written with the help of an AI.
